Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to independently deliver advanced technical maintenance within the maintenance department and mentor junior technicians.

Responsibilities include adherence to safety and GMP regulations, root-cause analysis, asset integrity, cross-functional collaboration, and optimization of HVAC/R systems with BEACON 2 and IntelliGen platforms. A strong technical background and EPA refrigerant handling certification are required.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma with 10+ yrs. experience or certificate with 5+ yrs. experience or associate degree with 3+ yrs. experience, or proficient in two or more skilled maintenance functions.
  • CMRT or equivalent accreditation desired
  • Knowledge and ability to use advanced tools (machine tools, diagnostic tools, predictive tools)
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Windows)
  • Proficient in setup, use, repair and replacement of all I/O or BAS controlled systems
  • HVAC/R validation/commissioning knowledge
  • Able to interpret electrical diagrams and work with 24/460V
  • Experience with walk-in coolers/freezers and refrigeration optimization
  • Proficient with superheat/subcooling calculations and refrigeration efficiency
  • Experience with Beacon 2 and IntelliGen systems
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Train lower-level technicians on advanced tasks and maintain multiple skilled trades competencies.
  • Operate and troubleshoot core maintenance tasks on MS Windows environments and be proficient in BEACON/IntelliGen.
  • Support cross-functional teams, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

Job Description

Hours/Shift:

6:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Rotating Shift - 4 days on/4 days off)


Independently perform Senior level technical support within the maintenance department. Trains l0wer-level Technicians on more advanced tasks.



Responsibilities


  • Adhere to Abbvies code of conduct Maintains the function of department assets to ensure reliable equipment and quality standards are met.

  • Assists in root cause investigation and reliability centered maintenance analysis Capable of training others on tasks. Is proficient in multiple skilled trade disciplines and creates or edits maintenance job plans

  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Windows) Fully proficient in their core function, performing advanced level tasks

  • Assist cross functional teams outside of the maintenance organization Supports continuous improvement projects and safety initiatives within the maintenance organization and/or the site

  • Understands and follows all safety and GMP regulations Assist cross functional teams outside of the maintenance organization



Qualifications


  • HS diploma with 10+ yrs. Experience or Relevant Certificate with 5+ yrs. experience or Associates technical degree with 3+ yrs. Experience, or proficient in two or more skilled maintenance functions.

  • CMRT (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician) or equivalent accreditation desired

  • Knowledge and ability to use advanced tools (i.e. machine tools, diagnostic tools, predictive tools)

  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Windows)

  • Proficient in the setup, use, repair and replacement of all I/O or BAS controlled systems including but not limited to: Current to Pressure Transducers, Controller Boards, Actuators, Valves, Dampers, Electric Pressure Switches, Pressure Current Sensors, Temperature to Current Sensors, and Humidity to Current Sensors.

  • Must have working knowledge of the HVAC/R VALIDATION / COMMISSIONING PROCESS.

  • Analyze and interpret electrical diagrams and layers to effectively work with voltages of 24Vac, 120Vac, and 460Vac.

  • Install, maintain, and repair walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers, ensuring temperature regulation and product preservation.

  • Utilize advanced calculations such as superheat calculation and subcooling calculation to optimize refrigeration processes and system efficiency.

  • Operate and troubleshoot Beacon 2 smart controllers and IntelliGen systems manufactured by Heatcraft for optimal refrigeration performance a plus.

  • Certified by the Federal EPA for operation of refrigerant reclaiming equipment and for proper usage and disposal of all refrigerants.

  • Valid drivers license
