The Maintenance Technician III supports FedEx industrial maintenance of material handling systems by performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The role involves using prescribed processes related to mechanical power transmission, electrical systems, PLC/controls, welding, fabrication, and other industrial maintenance systems. Troubleshooting component and system issues may also be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Under minimal supervision, perform preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of material handling systems, demonstrating proficiency in mechanical power transmission and electrical systems, with working knowledge of PLC/controls and welding/fabrication.
- Adhere to safety standards, attend safety meetings and trainings, and address safety concerns to promote a safe work environment.
- Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, manuals, and specifications to diagnose and repair faults or determine escalation.
- Respond to calls to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
- Utilize Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software for data entry and retrieval.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control failures, possibly relying on higher-level technicians for complex control system issues.
- Begin reading PLCs and burning EEPROMs.
- Assist lower-level technicians and develop scopes of work and project plans for small projects.
- Work flexible schedules, including various days and shifts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
