Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has a immediate opening for a Full-time Maintenance Technician II.

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities
  • The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance of the facility and is expected to perform general maintenance duties throughout the complex with little or no supervision.
  • Performs general maintenance duties in the following:
  • Electrical work
  • Plumbing (contact with drains, toilets, and sewer pipes)
  • Painting
  • General repair work (repair work includes medical equipment which will be decontaminated before it is serviced).
  • Repairs equipment that does not require specialized training. (Repair work includes medical equipment, which will be decontaminated before it is serviced).
  • Performs maintenance tasks requiring a particular skill such as plumbing, electric, painting, or HVAC. Assists other mechanics to troubleshoot problems and ensures they meet the quality and safety standards of their particular profession.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts and participates in the purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Cares for maintenance equipment.
  • Clears roads, walks, and parking areas of snow, ice, and debris.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must have extensive previous experience in maintenance.
  • Must have working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and machinery mechanics.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with less than 3 points to drive MMH vehicles.
  • Must be able to meet the standards of the MMH MVP Customer Service Program.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Communicates with other departments.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include: medical, dental & vision insurance, short & long term disability, $25,000 life insurance, 401(k) Plan with matching contributions, PTO and Sick Hours (based on the Maryland Sick & Safe Law), paid holidays

Compensation is based on experience.
