Job summary

Maryland Masonic Homes in Cockeysville, MD is seeking a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Carpenter to maintain and repair structures and fixtures throughout the campus. You will respond to maintenance requests from residents and staff, read blueprints, and coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC teams.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 3 years of carpentry experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or senior living environment is a plus.

Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has a immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Carpenter.

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:
  • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, and furniture.
  • Respond to maintenance service requests from staff and residents in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on wooden elements throughout the facility.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and facility standards.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance staff (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) to complete larger repair and renovation projects.
  • Maintain inventory of carpentry supplies and order materials as needed.
  • Assist in emergency repairs and after-hours calls if required.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Must be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional carpentry experience; experience in a healthcare or senior living environment is a plus.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in various indoor/outdoor conditions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outside during inclement weather.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include:
