Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has a immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Carpenter.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, and furniture.
- Respond to maintenance service requests from staff and residents in a timely and respectful manner.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on wooden elements throughout the facility.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and facility standards.
- Coordinate with other maintenance staff (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) to complete larger repair and renovation projects.
- Maintain inventory of carpentry supplies and order materials as needed.
- Assist in emergency repairs and after-hours calls if required.
- Keep work areas clean and organized and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Must be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of professional carpentry experience; experience in a healthcare or senior living environment is a plus.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in various indoor/outdoor conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outside during inclement weather.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include:

Compensation is based on experience.
