Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools, Building Services, Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic I to support HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks. The role may require shift work and supervision of less skilled workers.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, at least three years in Building Services or completion of the first two years of an approved Apprenticeship Program, and a valid Virginia driver’s license. Drug screening is required.

• Completion of first and second year of approved Apprenticeship Program or equivalent.
• Valid Virginia driver's license and drug screening as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance and minor repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry systems.
• Repair windows/doors and install ceiling, floor tiles, weather stripping.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Move furniture and assist with on-call emergency responses.
• Maintain service and repair records and safety compliance.
