Job summary

Texas Disposal Systems is seeking a Technician II to assist with maintenance on Class 8 vehicles and related systems in a fast-paced shop environment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and help train junior technicians as needed.

This role requires you to own basic tools, have strong English communication, and a solid understanding of automotive fundamentals plus safety practices. A valid Class C license and current inspector credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of preventive maintenance experience or a technical degree.
• Owns basic tools and follows safety practices in the shop.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Basic automotive knowledge and ability to read labels.
• DOT Inspector License or ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance according to set schedules within standard repair times.
• Identify faults during vehicle inspections and repair in a timely fashion.
• Notify supervisor immediately of parts to be ordered.
• Perform basic diagnostics with hydraulic gauges and computer software for engine/transmission diagnosis.
• Replace known failed auxiliaries (brakes, sensors, starters, alternators, hydraulic cylinders).
• Work may be audited periodically and record repair times.
• Assist in training Tech 1s or auditing Preventive Maintenance Inspections.
• Assist with more complex repairs (turbos, EGR components, fuel filters, oil thermostats, air compressors, differentials).
• Wear PPE and comply with safety policies; report safety violations.
• May drive a vehicle with GVW up to 26,000 pounds when required.
• Maintain repair order documentation and monthly inventories.
• Maintain a clean workspace and participate in training sessions.
