Job summary

Schwan's is seeking a maintenance technician for the 2nd shift (1:00 PM–10:00 PM, Mon–Fri) in a food manufacturing environment. Starting pay is $27.00 per hour with a $1.50 shift differential from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, plus overtime opportunities.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting conveyors and production equipment, and setup/installation support. A HS diploma or GED and 3+ years of related experience are required; lifting up to 50 lbs is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two-year degree preferred in maintenance trade.
• 3+ years of related maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work varied shifts.
• Experience with conveyors and food production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot conveyors and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation.
• Repair shafts, sprockets, gear heads, weld stainless steel, fabricate hydraulics, and maintain belts.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, and installation of plant machinery.
• Document maintenance activities in SAP and coordinate with production teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Do:

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.


• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.


• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.


• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.


• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring:

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.


• 3+ years of related experience.


• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.


• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.


• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
