Job summary

CJ Schwan's in Kentucky is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot conveyor systems and food production machinery, ensuring reliable operation and minimizing downtime.

You will conduct mechanical repairs such as shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance while documenting activities in SAP and coordinating with operations for smooth workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot on conveyors and food machinery to minimize downtime.
• Carry out mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, and installation of new or modified plant machinery.
• Diagnose issues through observation and measurements; identify root causes.
• Document maintenance activities in SAP and coordinate with production teams.

Starting Pay: $31.00 per hour
Additional $1.50 shift differential from 6 p.m. - 6 a.m.

What You Will Do:

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring:

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.
• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
