Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician II for our soon-to-open St. Louis Healthcare Laundry facility. The ideal candidate is confident in decision-making, acts quickly, and possesses excellent communication skills. The Maintenance Technician II will perform repairs, adjustments, overhauls, and preventive maintenance on laundry and boiler room equipment. Must troubleshoot mechanical and electronic problems efficiently and accurately, and be capable of performing plumbing, carpentry, welding, or electrical tasks as needed.

The Successful Candidate

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Use industrial maintenance knowledge to repair, modify, or create parts for mechanical equipment, analyzing equipment visually and audibly to determine necessary repairs, and distinguish color-coded wiring schemes.
  • Perform detailed setup and use of 250 amp electrical welders; work in laundry environments with exposure to lint, high temperatures, and cold weather.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, repair, modify, and install machinery, equipment, and electrical systems following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
  • Dismantle defective machines, replace parts and motors, and adjust feed mechanisms.
  • Operate machinery to identify causes of failures through testing and inspection, listening for malfunctions.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to Maintenance Technician I.
  • Shutdown the plant safely and perform morning startup procedures, maintaining logs and work orders.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery parts using appropriate tools.
  • Install and maintain drives, bearings, shafts, brakes, and pulleys.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring and automated machinery, including electronic components.
  • Understand and comply with HAZMAT, MSDs, EPA, and OSHA requirements, and wear PPE as required.
  • Operate forklifts and manlifts safely, wearing proper safety equipment.
  • Engage in ongoing self-improvement to stay current with new equipment and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance daily when on duty, report issues to management, and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent plus 4-6 years of related experience.
  • Skills in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding tasks.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and flow charts.
  • Ability to perform scheduled preventive maintenance and understand occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 100 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Proficiency with computers and understanding of PLC principles.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong customer service, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
