Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to perform demand and scheduled preventive maintenance across a wide range of trades including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, painting and carpentry. You will ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors in hospital and clinic settings.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of general maintenance experience; hospital experience is preferred.

  • Required 2 years' experience as a general maintenance service-related technician.
  • Preferred hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on multiple systems and equipment to ensure a safe environment and operational reliability.
  • Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs to facilities to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs repairs to failed equipment within established standards and timeframes.
  • Maintains documentation of equipment problems and work orders.
  • Logs information in the maintenance system and reports major failures to the Manager.
  • Oversees repairs or modifications performed by contractors and demonstrates basic power and hand tool use.

In this position, you will perform demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of the facility equipment to cover all trades including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic tube, painting, carpentry and associated systems in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in hospital or clinic environments.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on multiple systems and equipment to ensure a safe environment and operational reliability according to standards established by management team.
  • Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs to facilities to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs repairs to failed equipment according to established standards and within acceptable timeframes.
  • Provides notification of equipment shutdowns to appropriate leadership, departmental personnel, and Service Response Center Operators.
  • Maintains documentation to accurately record equipment problems and failures, including work order completeness.
  • Log on and update information in the computer-based maintenance system. Reports major failures and equipment malfunctions to Manager.
  • Assists with, oversees and/or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors. Demonstrates ability to perform basic power and hand tool skill sets.
  • Demonstrates basic firefighting equipment use: R.A.C.E. fundamentals. Fire extinguishers. P.A.S.S. fundamentals.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving maintenance duties for multiple systems and equipment according to standards established by management team.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge depth on multiple pieces of equipment and associated systems according to standards established by management team.
  • Demonstrates work product meets the expected criteria.
  • Demonstrate accountability for customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate accountability for effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate accountability for management of skill sets.
