Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related systems in fast-paced hospital settings.

  • Performs repairs to failed equipment within established standards and timeframes.
  • Troubleshoots and solves maintenance issues for various systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of electrical systems, meters, and safety practices.
  • Maintains good rapport with internal and external customers and documents work.
  • Creates and processes purchase orders and manages inventory for assigned crafts.

  • Required 3 years' experience as a general maintenance service-related Technician. Preferred Hospital experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs for multiple systems and equipment to ensure a safe environment and operational reliability according to standards established by management team.
  • Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs to facilities to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs repairs to failed equipment according to established standards and within acceptable timeframes.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving maintenance duties for multiple systems and equipment according to standards established by management team.
  • Demonstrates troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge depth on multiple pieces of equipment and associated systems according to standards established by management team.
  • Demonstrates basic electrical knowledge and meter usage. Demonstrates Fire Safety knowledge such as fire extinguisher designations and usage.
  • Demonstrates work product meets the expected criteria.
  • Ensures good rapport and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers. Complete activities in a way that maximizes task effectiveness and minimizes customer impact.
  • Ensures effective communication as demonstrated by maintaining good rapport and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates ability to create and process purchase orders. Demonstrates that inventory under individual craftsman control meets orderliness, labeling and quantity standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates positive, responsible leadership and guidance.
