Job summary

Opportunity Council in Whatcom County is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to oversee maintenance of facilities and grounds. This full-time position runs Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm, with rotating on-call duties and a pay range of $24–$32 per hour based on experience and training.

The role involves coordinating maintenance, inspections, vendor relations, data entry, training, and project management to keep buildings safe and functional throughout the county.

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree or specialized training in a related field, or comparable experience.
  • Two years of experience in maintenance or facilities.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and five-year driving history within the program’s insurance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates or performs maintenance activities to keep facilities and grounds in good order.
  • Performs quarterly inspections of properties.
  • Serves as primary contact for routine work and emergencies.
  • Maintains vehicles and ensures safety documentation is up to date.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with staff and community partners.
  • Performs data entry and tracking and maintains certifications.
  • Provides training and education to practitioners and partners.
  • Performs project management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Maintenance Technician oversees and supports all maintenance of Opportunity Council facilities and grounds throughout Whatcom County.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with rotating on call schedule.

PAY INFORMATION:

Wage range is based on relevant experience and additional training.

  • 0-2 years of experience: Base pay range of $24-$26
  • 3-4 years of experience: Base pay range of $26-$29
  • 5+ years of experience: Base pay range of $29-$32
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans, coordinates or performs maintenance activities to keep all facilities and grounds in good order.
  • Performs quarterly inspections of all properties.
  • Serves as primary contact for routine work and emergency situations.
  • Assist with activities related to keeping Opportunity Council vehicles in working order and supplied with safety documents in case of accident.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and contractors who provide services in support of facilities.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with staff and/or community partners.
  • Performs data entry and tracking.
  • Maintains specialized knowledge and/or certifications.
  • Assesses needs based on program requirements.
  • Provides technical training and education to practitioners, community partners, or clients.
  • Performs project management.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Two year degree or specialized training in a related field or y ear for year experience to replace degree
  • Two years of experience
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and five-year driving history within Opportunity
    Council’s Auto Insurance Standards.
