Job summary

L.B. Foster Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and operate manufacturing equipment, follow 5S standards, and perform preventive maintenance per PM schedules.

The role requires reading and interpreting work instructions, using hand and power tools, and ensuring safe operation of machinery in a fast-paced environment. Training on setup and basic machine tools is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Related degree from a technical college is a plus.
• 1 year of proven maintenance experience in manufacturing or internship preferred.

Job description

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
• Follow 5S standards to maintain work area.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance based on PM schedule.
• Locate sources of problems by observing and listening to mechanical devices in operation
• Complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
• Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.
• Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Assists with the installation of new production equipment and required infrastructure
• Read and interpret work instructions, then execute work per instructions
• Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Related degree from a technical college, a plus
• 1 year of proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or internship while attending technical college preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance
• Proficient with hand and power tools
• Ability to read and use tape measure

• Ability to use respirators (will have to be clean shaven on occasion)
