Job summary

LB Foster is seeking a maintenance technician to uphold machine performance and safety in a manufacturing setting. You will read and follow detailed work instructions, perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, and conveyors, and troubleshoot issues to keep production lines running smoothly.

The role involves hands-on use of hand and power tools, reading tapes, and working with electrical/mechanical systems. Night/weekend shifts may be required in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical coursework a plus.
• Experience in a manufacturing maintenance role or internship preferred.
• Experience with mechanical/electrical systems and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, clean work environment by following procedures and 5S standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors, and production machines; troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools; read and follow work instructions.
• Prepare maintenance reports and summarize trends.
• Assist with installation of new equipment and infrastructure.
• Read/interpret instructions and execute work per instructions.
• Other duties as required.

Job description

• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations


• Follow 5S standards to maintain work area.


• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.


• Perform regular preventative maintenance based on PM schedule.


• Locate sources of problems by observing and listening to mechanical devices in operation


• Complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.


• Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.


• Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends


• Assists with the installation of new production equipment and required infrastructure


• Read and interpret work instructions, then execute work per instructions


• Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred


• Related degree from a technical college, a plus


• 1 year of proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or internship while attending technical college preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance


• Proficient with hand and power tools


• Ability to read and use tape measure


• General mechanical knowledge

• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends


• Ability to use respirators (will have to be clean shaven on occasion)


• Ability to working at heights in aerial lift


• Ability to work outdoors in climate (hot/cold)

• Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
