Job summary

L.B. Foster Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform preventative maintenance on equipment, ensuring production runs safely and efficiently. You will service engines, motors, conveyors, and production machines while following standard work methods and safety practices.

The role requires ability to read manuals and work with basic machine tools. Candidates should have a HS diploma or equivalent and some manufacturing maintenance experience; a technical college degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical college degree is a plus.
• 1 year of proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or internship while attending technical college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all safe start meetings.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Follow 5S standards to maintain work area.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance based on PM schedule.
• Locate sources of problems by observing and listening to mechanical devices in operation.
• Complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
• Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.
• Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Assists with the installation of new production equipment and required infrastructure.
• Read and interpret work instructions, then execute work per instructions.
• Other duties as required.

Job description

As a Maintenance Technician I, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all equipment products while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Duties include preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all safe start meetings.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
• Follow 5S standards to maintain work area.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance based on PM schedule.
• Locate sources of problems by observing and listening to mechanical devices in operation
• Complete pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues identified.
• Trained to set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools.
• Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

Experience and Skills:

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Related degree from a technical college, a plus
• 1 year of proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or internship while attending technical college preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance
• Proficient with hand and power tools
