Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician Level 1 is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with general maintenance duties throughout the campus. This role supports the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the community by performing basic repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks under supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Assist skilled technicians with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
  • Complete routine inspections of common areas and resident homes for safety or maintenance issues.
  • Respond to daily work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
  • Provide courteous and respectful service to residents and staff.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools and follow instructions.
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-oriented mindset.
  • You must have your own basic tools (drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers). Necessary tools for completing building maintenance tasks. Specialty tools or will be onsite.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend shifts to support emergency repairs or special events.
  • Uniform provided.
  • Possible exposure to heights over six feet, working in confined areas, working with skin irritants, chemicals and radiation.
  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.
  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Language Ability:

  • Ability to communicate effectively speaking the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Cognitive Demands:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Responds promptly to resident needs.
  • Supports organization's goals and values.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this Job, the Team Member is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The Team Member is frequently required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member is occasionally required to sit.
The Team Member must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
