Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform extensive plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance, as well as custodial and grounds duties at County buildings. The role includes inspecting custodial work, operating a range of tools, and moving equipment.

Strong mechanical/electrical/plumbing repair experience and a valid SC driver’s license are required. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and ability to perform standard maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing repair experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks, including repairing HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting, and maintenance of lighting.
• Inspects and evaluates work performed by other custodians.
• Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming/mopping floors, cleaning/restrooms, stocking supplies, cleaning windows, and trash removal.
• Performs grounds maintenance duties including trimming shrubbery, mowing, raking leaves, sweeping walks, and insect control.
• Monitors safety and cleanliness of parking lot.
• Maintains machinery and makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Operates a variety of tools and equipment including mechanic’s tools, carpentry tools, diagnostic tools, electrician’s tools, hand and power tools, lawn mower, hedge trimmer, edger.
• Moves furniture and equipment.
