Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform comprehensive plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance across county buildings. Duties include routine custodial work, building upkeep, and grounds maintenance to ensure safe and functional facilities.

Essential tasks cover HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, lighting, and safety inspections; also includes inspecting other custodians’ work and handling grounds operations. Valid SC driver’s license required.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing repair experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience accepted.
  • Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks, including repairing HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing repairs, carpentry work, painting and lighting maintenance.
  • Inspects and evaluates work performed by custodians.
  • Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming, mopping floors, stocking restrooms, cleaning windows and glass surfaces, and trash removal.
  • Performs grounds maintenance duties including trimming shrubbery, mowing grass, raking leaves, sweeping walks, and insect control.
  • Monitors safety and cleanliness of parking lot and operates various maintenance machinery.
  • Moves furniture and equipment.

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of extensive plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance duties, routine custodial, building maintenance and grounds maintenance duties at assigned County buildings.
Essential Functions

  • Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks, including but not limited to repairing HVAC systems, electrical wiring, making plumbing repairs; performing carpentry work to repair or build structures; painting, maintaining lighting, etc.
  • Inspects and evaluates work performed by other custodians.
  • Performs various custodial duties as vacuuming and mopping floors; cleaning and stocking restrooms with soap and paper products; cleaning windows and other glass surfaces; emptying trash, etc.
  • Performs various grounds maintenance duties, including trimming shrubbery, mowing grass, raking leaves, sweeping walks, insect control, etc.
  • Monitors safety and cleanliness of parking lot.
  • Performs machinery maintenance and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.

Non-Essential Functions
  • Monitors and enforces policies regarding the use of the public building and parking lot.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
  • Requires high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing repair experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.
