Job summary

Seaboard Foods in Northwest Iowa is seeking a Maintenance Technician to assist in maintaining and repairing the physical structures of our animal production facilities. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect systems including feed, water, recycling, cooling cells, ventilation, controllers, and penning to keep operations running smoothly.

You will use hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, read work orders, follow specifications, and weld

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or greater preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect systems for feed, water, recycling, cooling cells, ventilation, controllers, and penning.
• Use hand and power tools and precision measuring devices; follow work orders and specifications.
• Welding of building equipment and fabrications for penning or gating.
• Must be on call for emergencies.

Job description

Assist in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings by performing the following duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect, for the following but not limited to automated f eed s ystems, f resh w ater w ystems , r ecycle s ystems, c ool c ells, v entilation, c ontrollers, and penning for animal production facilities sites to ensure operations run efficiently and effectively.
• Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Follow work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment require replacement, repair or maintenance.
• Welding of buildings equipment including load out chutes, and fabrications of some penning or gating.
• Must be on call available for emergency situations.

PAY RATE:

We offer a competitive pay rate based on your skills and experience related to this position. Our starting compensation for this position in Northwest , IA is $2 0.50 /hr.

REQUIREMENTS

• Two-year technical degree or greater, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months experience or training; or combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders . Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form .
• Must possess a current valid driver’s license, acceptable MVR, and ability to pass DOT physical and obtain medical card.
