Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Virginia on-site team. You will perform repairs across appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and facilities to keep our communities running smoothly.

You will also respond to after-hours emergencies, prepare vacant units for new residents, maintain facilities, and provide courteous resident support while logging service requests and tracking contractor performance.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of maintenance experience, apartment maintenance preferred.
• Refrigeration certification (Type II or Universal) required or obtained within 90 days.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy items, climb ladders, and use hand tools.
• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions while performing repairs.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance requests including repairs to appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and common facilities.
• Respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays to resolve urgent issues.
• Prepare vacant units by completing all tasks to make apartments rent-ready.
• Maintain facilities and inventory, keep shops organized and ensure amenity areas are clean and operational.
• Provide resident support through professional communication and addressing complaints.
• Handle administrative tasks such as logging service requests and monitoring vendor performance.
