Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities seeks a Maintenance Technician for Founders Village in Williamsburg, VA. This full-time role handles repairs across appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gates, pools, and common areas, with an emphasis on timely, resident-ready service.

You will respond to calls after hours, prepare vacant units, maintain facilities, and support administrative tasks while upholding safety and quality standards. Up to $23/hour, with PTO, holidays, 401(k) and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of apartment maintenance experience.
• Refrigeration certification Type II or Universal, or to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move 300-lb items, climb 40-ft ladders, and use hand tools and test equipment.
• Ability to move heavy equipment (100–300+ lbs) including stairs when required.
• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions while performing repairs.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance requests including repairs to appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and facilities.
• Respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Prepare vacant units by completing tasks to make apartments rent-ready.
• Maintain facilities and inventory, keep shops organized and stocked, ensure amenity areas are clean and operational.
• Provide resident support through professional communication and by addressing complaints and events.
• Handle administrative and contractor tasks such as logging service requests and updating databases.
