Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our processing plant running smoothly and safely. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, perform repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and support production teams to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 1+ years of industrial maintenance experience (or 4 years in lieu). Forklift or PIT experience is a plus; relocation not offered here.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years in similar environment.
• Vocational/Technical Diploma or associate degree (preferred).
• Ability to work in a team and interact with all levels of staff and contractors.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT).
• Ability to read and follow work orders and write daily reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment and production lines to minimize downtime.
• Repair and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components; test and adjust as needed.
• Assist with plant maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe work environment.
