Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our Kentucky plant running smoothly. You’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment, using electrical controls, fluid power, welding and fabrication skills.

A high school diploma or GED plus 1+ years in an industrial setting is required, with a technical diploma preferred. You will perform preventive maintenance, read schematics, and follow GMPs and LOCKOUT/TAGOUT

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years direct experience.
• Technical diploma or associate degree in maintenance (preferred).
• Ability to read and execute work orders, interpret manuals, and communicate clearly with teams.

Responsibilities

• Efficient work order and emergency response; use SAP to create work orders and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Hands-on maintenance and equipment repair; diagnose, replace parts, test functionality, and fabricate replacements when needed.
• Installation and system maintenance of mechanical equipment, piping, and electrical controls; ensure compliance with specs and safety rules.
• Technical skills and problem-solving; maintain preventive maintenance schedules and minimize downtime.
