Job summary

NHC HealthCare Chattanooga is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Supervisor in keeping the facility safe, clean, and functional. You’ll perform routine checks, assist with HVAC and utility systems, and coordinate with other departments to avoid disrupting patient care.

On-call duties and physical tasks are required. Responsibilities include preventive checks, minor repairs, and assisting with equipment maintenance, while upholding safety standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• Communication skills and active listening are essential.
• Willingness to work flexible hours is required.
• Experience with painting and drywall is needed.
• Experience with electrical and plumbing tasks is required.
• Physical effort including lifting up to 65 pounds is expected.
• Frequent walking or standing is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rounds to check maintenance zones ensuring safety and quality of care.
• Check air conditioning/heating units in roofs and patient rooms.
• Inspect pumps, panels, laundry equipment, and address repairs.
• Perform daily repairs as needed and monitor safety equipment.
