Job summary

National HealthCare Corporation at NHC Place at the Trace in Nashville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Assistant. You will assist with daily maintenance tasks, safety checks, and coordinating with departments to maintain a safe, comfortable facility for patients and staff.

The role requires flexibility, ability to lift up to 65 pounds, and experience in painting, drywall, electrical and plumbing. On-call duties and diverse tasks support a well‑functioning healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Must have painting and drywall experience
• Must have electric and plumbing experience
• Moderate to heavy physical effort including lifting up to 65 pounds is required
• Frequent walking or standing required

Responsibilities

• Assist with completing regular rounds of the facility to check maintenance zones for safety, health and welfare of patients, employees, families, visitors and report issues to the Administrator.
• Assist with checking air conditioning and heating units on roof and in patient rooms, offices and other rooms in the facility.
• Assist with checking storage areas, laundry facilities, and electrical panels; perform daily repairs as needed.
• Assist with checking water and boiler temperatures, cooking equipment, alarms and safety devices.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to avoid interrupting patient care and business operations.
• Be on call for emergencies and handle errands and lifting of heavy items as directed by the Administrator.
• Care for and repair institutional property, equipment and grounds; inspect for safety compliance.
