Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks on structures, facilities, and equipment to keep an environment safe and clean. You will operate various tools, perform painting, carpentry, plumbing, and related duties, and may drive to sites as required.

Qualifications include 6 months of experience, ability to read/write, and a valid Texas Class C driver’s license; education is 9–11 years of formal schooling.

Qualifications

• Six months of working experience required.
• Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic maintenance and repair to structures, facilities, and equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment.
• Performs basic maintenance and repairs such as housekeeping, fabrication and installations, routine cleaning and servicing of vehicles, and cement mixing and preparation.
• Operates power and hand tool equipment; may perform painting, roofing, carpentry, and plumbing tasks as needed.
• May operate vehicles to and from work locations; performs additional miscellaneous assignments as required.
