Job summary

Equity Residential is seeking a Maintenance Technician Apprentice to train with our property management team across HVAC, plumbing, appliances, and electrical work. Over 14 weeks, you'll gain hands-on and classroom experience, with promotion to Maintenance Technician upon successful completion.

You'll join a program that supports Total Wellbeing with holidays, vacation, 401(k), rent discounts, and leadership development, while building practical skills and earning $23.73 per hour with overtime

Qualifications

• General ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
• Upon promotion, able to work any assigned shift, including weekends; available after-hours for emergencies.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if operating a vehicle.
• Effective communication in English, both written and oral.
• Ability to perform physical activities including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Smartphone proficiency for job-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with assigned service team members for on the job training.
• Observe, learn, and understand a wide range of maintenance skills and processes.
• Learn to operate light equipment for basic repairs under guidance of skilled staff.
• Demonstrate skills by working independently or with a team as training progresses.
• Perform maintenance tasks to gain hands-on experience and showcase proficiency.
• Learn relevant computer software applications used by the service team.
