Clayton is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Morristown, TN, to support industrial machinery and electrical systems. The role emphasizes safe operation, component repair, and preventative maintenance to maximize machine performance.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years in industrial maintenance, proficiency with electrical meters, and knowledge of DC/AC systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Strong teamwork, physical stamina, and forklift certification are valued.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years’ experience as Maintenance Technician in an industrial environment.
  • Experience on electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  • Able to demonstrate use of electrical meters and all of their functions.
  • Knowledge of 3 phase voltage and how to troubleshoot.
  • Knowledge of DC theory and how to troubleshoot.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical concepts.
  • Experience with shop equipment, wood, metal and/or sheet metal.
  • Good trouble shooting skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot to component level.
  • Able to climb and use ladders.
  • Carry or maneuver 50+ pounds.
  • Able to maneuver in confined spaces; twist, bend, stoop, or stand for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Reading and understanding equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Works safely in the facility and reports unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Identify failed components and repair electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot DC voltage up to 24 VDC and AC voltage up to 480 VAC to component level.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to improve machine output and performance.
  • Work in a team environment and be willing to work overtime and Saturdays.
  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, structures, and pipe/electrical systems.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specs to determine repairs.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery to detect wear or misalignment.
  • Detect malfunctions and discuss operation variations to diagnose issues.
  • Realign and adjust equipment and components.
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, transformers, wiring, and components.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the establishment’s physical structures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works safely in the facility and notifies appropriate person of unsafe practices or conditions and follows up to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Able to troubleshoot, identify failed components and repair electrical equipment.
  • Understand and troubleshoot DC voltage up to 24 VDC. Repair to component level.
  • Understand and troubleshoot AC voltage up to 480 VAC. Repair to component level.
  • Performs preventative maintenance functions in order to improve machine output and performance.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
  • Must be willing to work Saturday as needed
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts, or specifications to determine defective items and repairs needed.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery to detect or prevent wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Realigns and adjusts equipment and components.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearing, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.

  • Must have good written skills
  • Able to logically process thoughts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook.
  • Robotic training a plus
  • HVAC and Pipe Fitting experience a plus.
  • Experience with boilers, Environmental Chambers and CNC Mills a plus.
