Job summary

Clayton is a vertically integrated housing company seeking a Maintenance Technician to support TPM and manage maintenance for plant operations. You will participate in planning, preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnose faults, and oversee time-critical repairs.

The role emphasizes inventory control and documentation of equipment history. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with 5 years of maintenance experience preferred.

  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance program and documentation.
  • Rebuild, repair, and maintain production machinery using tools and instruments.
  • Minimize downtime with effective electrical/electrical maintenance skills.

General Expectations

The Maintenance Technician position assists in all aspects of equipment readiness and maintenance for plant operations.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Supports Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through planning and executing the preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance of production equipment.
  • Attends to break downs, diagnose faults, and oversees equipment improvements and time-critical repair.
  • Manges spare parts inventory.
  • Oversee the continuous monitoring of production and process equipment for proper operation through routine inspections.
  • Create, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance program of production including inspection of plant equipment and inventory for replenishing parts.
  • Maintain documentation, machine history, and all other appropriate documentation for production equipment, including or if necessary, requesting replacement for any tools/equipment.
  • Rebuild, repair, and maintain a wide variety of production, processing machinery and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments (measurement devices, calipers, and micrometers to inspect machine parts) 2. Duties including but not limited to welding, fabrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics as well as general knowledge of electrical equipment such as controllers, PLC’s, Robotics, servo motors, encoders, electrical troubleshooting and electrical instrumentation usage including reading electrical schematics as well as various other aspects of the Maintenance Technical field. 3. Make recommendations to improve existing PM’s to improve effectiveness and update PM’s, modifications including equipment changes 4. Minimize downtime of plant equipment through the effective use of Electrical/Electronic maintenance skills.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities Required
  • Ability to think proactively, properly follow instructions, and complete duties with minimal supervision. 2. Must be able to work well individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to create and follow a routine maintenance schedule
  • Electrical experience including but not limited to three-phase and single-phase power and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills.
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to trouble shoot machinery, equipment, and tools – mechanically inclined
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and safely using sound judgement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including exposure to Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education And Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • 5 years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Proven mechanical & electrical aptitude/passion
