Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Willis, TX seeks a Maintenance Technician III to perform installations, repairs, and modifications of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems within the manufacturing facility.

You will inspect and maintain plant buildings and equipment, follow safety rules, work from blueprints, and contribute to continuous improvement. Five years of related maintenance experience and a high school diploma are required; excellent problem-solving skills are a must.

• Minimum of five years related work experience in a Maintenance Mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules for hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
• Install and repair electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, motors.
• Use welding equipment for layout and fitting; make jigs and fixtures.
• Diagnose electrical system faults and determine load requirements.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to keep machinery in good condition.
• Provide on-the-job direction to new maintenance staff.

SCOPE OF ROLE

The Maintenance Technician III performs a variety of essential functions related to equipment installations, repairs, and modifications for generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy in the manufacturing facility. They install, modify, and maintain all plant buildings, machinery, and equipment, including mobile or road equipment and production machinery, in a good state of mechanical repair.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus
• Perform duties assigned in the machine shop (i.e. tool & die) as directed
• Works on highly technical or involved projects, dealing with complex factors, and making decisions based on conclusions and findings
• Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions, and other specifications
• Use different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting) for layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures
• Uses electricians' hand tools and measuring/testing equipment
• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery in good condition, ensuring the production of finished quality products to order specifications
• Follows the preventive maintenance program established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventative action when necessary
• Performs minor and major repairs on buildings
• Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
• Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in the work area
• May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum of (5) five years related work experience in a Maintenance Mechanic function, or equivalent related experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing, walking, lifting 30 lbs. or more, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching throughout the duration of your shift Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
