Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to install, repair, and maintain plant equipment. The base pay ranges from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, and 1st shift runs 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with hours varying by operations.

Responsibilities include applying safety rules, wiring and electrical work, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance, welding, and preventive maintenance. The role may require overtime.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function or equivalent.
• Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety rules for hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Performs machine shop duties as directed (tool & die).
• Works on technical projects and makes decisions based on findings.
• Installs and repairs electrical equipment including generators, transformers, and motors.
• Uses welding equipment for lay out and fitting.
• Diagnoses faults in electrical systems and loads.
• Inspects and maintains machinery to ensure quality.
• Follows preventive maintenance program and inspections.
• Performs building repairs as needed.
• Notifies management of major repairs or lighting/heating needs.
• Mentors new maintenance staff.
• Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

The Maintenance Technician III performs a variety of essential functions related to equipment installations, repairs, and modifications for generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy in the manufacturing facility. They install, modify, and maintain all plant buildings, machinery, and equipment, including mobile or road equipment and production machinery, in a good state of mechanical repair.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus.
• Perform duties assigned in the machine shop (i.e. tool & die) as directed.
• Works on highly technical or involved projects, dealing with complex factors, and making decisions based on conclusions and findings.
• Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems. Works with blue prints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions, and other specifications.
• Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
• Uses electricians' hand tools and measuring/testing equipment.
• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery in good conditionensuring the production of finished quality products to order specifications.
• Follows the preventive maintenance program established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventative action when necessary.
• Performs minor and major repairs on buildings.
• Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work.
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area.
• May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Minimum of (5) five years related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, walking, lifting 30 lbs. or more, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, near acuity,
• Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
