Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs machinery and piping/electrical systems.
• Visually inspects equipment before use.
• Tests equipment after repair and before use.
• Troubleshoots malfunctioning machinery to find root cause.
• Dismantles and reassembles machinery; replaces parts.
• Lubricates shafts, bearings, gears as part of PM.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus of machinery.
• Lays out and maintains piping systems.
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment.
• Sets up machine tools to repair or fabricate parts.

Position Summary: Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment and piping/electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments:

• Visually inspects machinery and support equipment prior to use
• Test machinery and supporting equipment after repair and prior to use
• Troubleshoots inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment to detect root cause
  • Listen for unusual sounds
  • Feel for unusual vibration
  • Communicates with users regarding variation specifics
• Dismantles inoperable or malfunctioning machinery and supporting equipment, installs new or repaired parts and reassembles the machinery or supporting equipment
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of the machinery and supporting equipment as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus (transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components) of machinery and supporting equipment
• Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment
• Repairs and maintains physical structure(s) of the establishment
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as a lathe, grinder, drill and milling machinery to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools
• Other duties as assigned
