Maintenance Technician II: 1st Shift / Salisbury, Massachusetts

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician role supports the overall success of the plant through diagnosing and repairing the facilities machinery and infrastructure. Daily activities include responding to breakdowns, implementing preventive maintenance on equipment and infrastructure systems, and grounds maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete preventive maintenance tasks as described
• Confirm proficiency in all level 1 skills
• Effectively diagnose and repair mechanical issues
• Complete bladder changes on Laminator 6
• Execute ULMA changeovers including printer settings
• Diagnose issues related to flow wrappers (mechanical, heaters, thermocouples, drives, etc.)
• Perform basic diagnoses on control systems (relays, sensors, load cells, etc.) and replace components that do not require programming
• Conduct calibration verifications for moisture sensors/load cells as prescribed in PMs
• Use hand tools and meters (multi-meter, amp clamp, etc.) proficiently
• Troubleshoot compressors and boilers, escalating repairs when necessary, and bring systems back online
• Diagnose and repair Laminator steam can sections, including rotary unions, flanges, traps, and effluent pumps; plumbing steam supply lines on both supply and return sides
• Work independently, managing time efficiently and escalating issues beyond personal expertise
• Perform pump repairs and rebuilds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Fulfill all level 1 requirements
• At least one year as a level one contributor

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME

One week per year

MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT USED

• Computer literacy required (email, etc.)
• Intermediate level meters, instruments, and heavy hand tools

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED

• Safety eyewear
• Steel toe safety shoes
• Hairnet or ballcap
• Cut-resistant gloves, chemical gloves, etc., as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing: 75% of the day
• Sitting: 25% of the day
• Moving throughout the plant: 100% of the day
• Lifting up to 25 lbs.: 10% of the day
• Ascending/Descending (stairs, up to 16 ft): 25% of the day
• Push/Pull/Reach (fabric rolls, A-frames, approx. 1500 lbs): 1% of the day
• Bending: 10% of the day
• Visual acuity for reading printed info and screens: 25% of the day
• Cognitive alertness for decision-making: 100% of the day

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This role operates in a manufacturing setting, working around moving mechanical parts and industrial vehicles. Noise levels are loud, temperatures can exceed 100°F, and humidity can be over 98%.

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Schedule depends on open positions at hire; weekends and holidays may be scheduled based on business needs. Typical shifts include:

• 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, with some weekend overtime
• Minimal off-shift hours for training
