Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a maintenance mechanic with electrical controls expertise at our Fontana, CA facility. Responsibilities include installing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment, following blueprints and safety procedures to ensure high-quality production.

The role requires 1–3 years in maintenance, knowledge of NFPA 70E/NEC/OSHA, hydraulics and pneumatics, and the ability to read electrical diagrams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of related maintenance mechanic experience, preferably electrical controls.
  • Preferred experience as Electrical Controls Technician in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics experience.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Follows safety rules for hydraulic, mechanical and electrical work.
  • Installs and repairs electrical equipment per blueprints, drawings and specs.
  • Diagnoses and corrects electrical system faults; performs preventative maintenance.
  • Lead on‑the‑job direction to other maintenance staff.
  • Maintains equipment and updates repair procedures; documents work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and housekeeping.

Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus
  • Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings
  • Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications
  • Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures
  • Uses electricians’ hand tools and measuring/testing equipment
  • Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
  • Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery in good condition ensuring the production of finished quality products to order specifications
  • Follows the preventive maintenance program established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventative action when necessary
  • Performs minor and major repairs on buildings
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
  • Provides on‑the‑job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work
  • Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area
  • Ensure compliance of applicable Safety Standards and procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment
  • Execute equipment repair procedures
  • Ensure good housekeeping in work areas
  • Enter equipment repair history and close out work orders
  • Update repair procedures if needed
  • May be assigned additional projects or duties
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
  • Minimum of 1‑3 years of related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience
  • Preferred experience as an Electrical Controls Technician in an industrial manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated commitment to electrical safety, strong troubleshooting skills, decision making skills, problem analysis and conflict management skills, particularly in pressure situations
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC and applicable OSHA standards
  • Hydraulics Experience
  • Pneumatics Experience
  • Proficient in reading and understanding electrical diagrams and technical manuals
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential of overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.

The US pay range for this full‑time position is $25.00 per hour to $35.00 per hour + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. (Full‑time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week. Union programs may vary depending on the collective bargaining agreement.)
