Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair diversified maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs to optimize plant performance.
  • Read manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
  • Execute mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
  • Diagnose issues, replace parts, test, and adjust systems.
  • Identify faulty operations and report to management.
  • Submit inspection and testing data as required.
  • Enforce safety practices per laws and company policies.
  • Inspect new equipment.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Plant and Maintenance Technician is responsible for diversified maintenance operations on plant production and facility equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs highly diversified maintenance operations on plant production and facility equipment, according to safety and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.
  • Performs scheduled plant preventive maintenance activities on machines, equipment, and plant facilities as well as emergency and unscheduled repairs with the objective of optimizing plant performance and plant operating efficiency.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
  • Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and carpentry functions, duties, and responsibilities which include testing, maintenance, and repair of all major components of the plant.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and makes adjustments.
  • Detects faulty operations, defective materials, and reports them and any unusual situations to management.
  • Completes and submits assigned inspection and testing data as required.
  • Complies with and ensures that peers and subcontractors demonstrate safe work practices in compliance with Federal, State, and local codes and with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs inspections on new equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of industrial or related maintenance experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Analytical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Must have good reasoning ability
  • Welder, fitter, millwright, electrician, carpentry, or instrument technician skills with the ability to train on all skills listed to achieve a proficiency level capable of handling all plant maintenance functions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be able to perform physical activities that require climbing stairs and ladders and working around industrial equipment.
  • Be able to wear and work in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Extended periods of walking and standing
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
