Job summary

Wescon Controls, LLC in Oatville, Kansas, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform diversified duties in our industrial plant, including building, installing and maintaining equipment, and performing preventative maintenance and repairs.

You will work with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and pneumatic systems, operate hand and power tools, complete work orders, assist contractors, and uphold safety and cleanliness in the workplace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or trade certification.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a maintenance role in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance.
• PLC experience and HVAC and pneumatic experience.
• Ability to use hand and power tools; MIG/TIG welding.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains and repairs machines and equipment in plant and related facilities.
• Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, motors and hydraulic systems.
• Performs maintenance requiring knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other trades.
• Operates hand and power tools; fabricates parts as needed.
• Completes work orders and paperwork for maintenance tasks.
• Assists with contractors and subcontractors; ensures safety policies.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties. Responsibilities may include building, installing and maintaining equipment, performing preventative maintenance and repairs and applying knowledge in a variety of skilled trade areas.

Essential Functions: (essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and frequency at which tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job)

• Installs, maintains and repairs machines and equipment in plant and related facilities
• Performs a variety of preventative maintenance on parts, pumps, motors, hydraulic systems and related plant and facility equipment.
• Performs a variety of maintenance requiring knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, electrical, electronics, welding and other skilled trades as appropriate or applicable.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery in the maintenance repair, and fabrication of parts, machines and equipment.
• Completes work orders and paperwork regarding daily maintenance and repair duties
• Assists with contractors and subcontractors
• Ensures compliance with operating policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment and efficient operations; may require wearing appropriate safety equipment and gear
• Assists with maintaining a safe and clean work environment and may perform various janitorial or housekeeping tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required:

• Good knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and overall general maintenance
• High mechanical ability
• PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) experience
• At least one year of HVAC experience
• At least one year of Pneumatic experience
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools
• MIG & TIG Welding experience
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word & Excel
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Good troubleshooter
• Excellent verbal/ written communication and customer service skills
• Solid work ethic with a commitment to consistent on-time work attendance

Preferred:

• Familiarity with Outlook or other e-mail system
• Master Plumber and/or Master Electrician

Required education and experience: (education and experience based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity)

• High school diploma or GED or trade school certification or certificate program completion
• Minimum of five years of experience in a maintenance role in an industrial/ manufacturing environment

Preferred education and experience: (preferred education and experience based on requirements that are job related and consistent with business necessity)

Additional eligibility qualifications: (additional requirements such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

• Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands/ Equipment used to perform the job:

• Ability to lift, place, carry and push objects up to 50lbs or more
• Able to climb a ladder

• Must be able to work in an uncontrolled environment; in outdoor elements
