Job summary

KETTLER is hiring a Maintenance Technician for Shenandoah Station in Triangle, VA. The role involves responding to service requests, performing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repairs, and preparing vacant units for market-ready status.

You will perform preventive maintenance, handle grounds and building exteriors, and participate in on-call emergencies with a responsive, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience in apartment, hotel, or facilities maintenance preferred.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair knowledge required.
  • Must have good English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must live within 30 minutes of the property and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Handle multiple residential service requests daily.
  • Respond to maintenance requests within HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repair areas; troubleshoot and repair or escalate as needed.
  • Participate in all maintenance projects and turnover repairs for market-ready units.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on systems and general property repairs.
  • Demonstrate customer service by treating residents with respect and responding to questions and complaints promptly.

Job description

KETTLER currently has an opening for a Maintenance Technician at Shenandoah Station, located in Triangle, VA. If you have a good work ethic, a passion for helping people, and want an opportunity to learn and grow, KETTLER is the place for you.

The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of a Maintenance Manager, is responsible for general maintenance, repairs in apartments and buildings, and responding to service requests of residents.

Compensation: $26.00 - $28.50/hour

Responsibilities
  • Handle multiple residential service requests daily.
  • Respond to resident requests for maintenance and service within HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repair areas by troubleshooting and taking appropriate action to repair and/or restore service within the quality and time standards established by the organization; escalates problems to a supervisor or outside contractor as necessary.
  • Participate in all maintenance projects.
  • Prepare vacant units for market-ready status through turnover repairs and improvements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance repair on all systems at the property.
  • Perform general repair of property grounds, apartments, and building exteriors.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills by treating residents and others with respect, answering resident questions, responding sensitively to complaints about maintenance services, and completing assigned work orders with efficiency and urgency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • EPA/CFC Type I & II certifications preferred – must obtain within 90 days from the date of hire.
  • 1 year of apartment, hotel, or facilities maintenance experience with intermediate knowledge of HVAC, appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair.
  • Valid Driver’s License and must live within 30 minutes of the property.
  • Outstanding customer service and focus on providing residents with timely and accurate responses.
  • Must be responsible for taking calls for after‑hour emergency maintenance, including nights and weekends on a rotational basis.
  • Must have personal/reliable transportation to get to work in order to respond to on‑call emergencies as they occur.
  • Must carry a cell phone as required for on‑call maintenance.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to walk the grounds and apartments, ascend stairs around the property, lift 60 lbs., climb ladders over 10 feet, and perform other general physical activities.
