Job summary

Amcor Flexibles, LLC in Shelbyville is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and control systems on production equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, and ensure compliance with safety and codes at the Shelbyville healthcare plant.

The role requires 1–3 years in industrial maintenance, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical problems.
  • Willingness to work on-site at the Shelbyville facility and adhere to safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and simple electrical problems on plant facilities and production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance per defined interval/schedule, document maintenance concerns/resolutions, and provide action plans/status reports.
  • Respond to emergency repairs, including fire system issues reported during off-hours.
  • Ensure all work meets OSHA, City and Federal codes and plant policies.
  • Perform machine shop tasks using drill presses, grinders, MIG/TIG/stick welders, plasma torches and related tools.
  • Weld fabrication (stick and gas) on various metals for new and existing equipment.
  • Maintain proper care of tools, parts, materials and work area; provide coverage in absence of other technicians.
  • Utilize PPE and follow safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Schedule:

Day Shift; 6:45pm-7am

What you'll do:
  • Identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and simple electrical problems on plant facilities and production equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and documents maintenance concerns/resolutions in an electronic database; providing action plans and status reports as needed.
  • Responds to emergency requests for repairs/replacements, including fire system malfunctions which may be reported during off-hours.
  • Ensures that all work performed meets required codes (OSHA, City and Federal) and is in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Perform machine shop work operating various machines such as drill presses, grinders, MIG/TIG/stick welders, plasma torches, cutting equipment (i.e. chop saw), pneumatic tools and electric/manual hand tools
  • Performs welding fabrication (both stick and gas) in various locations and positions including pipe and structural on various metals for new and existing equipment.
  • Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials and work area.
  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves and aprons.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Preferred qualifications:
  • High level of experience and proficiency in the function, mechanics, and operation of all Maintenance equipment
  • Computer and Software knowledge
  • Able to work well with others / self motivated
  • Strong mechanical skills Strong Attendance and Safety Record
  • Be able to work both independently and in a team environment, completing objectives efficiently with a sense of responsibility.
  • Be able to safely complete the physical tasks associated with the essential job functions. These tasks include extensive climbing, walking, lifting, bending, standing, carrying, and squatting.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in an Industrial Maintenance environment
