Job summary

Wilderness at the Smokies in Sevierville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain all facilities across its properties, including River Lodge, Stone Hill Lodge, Villas, Offsite Laundry, Employee Housing and Soaky Mountain Waterpark.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, painting, and remodeling; coordination with departments; adherence to safety standards; and timely response to maintenance requests and emergencies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
  • Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and speak to groups of people.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic with money and measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, painting, and remodeling as needed.
  • Refinish wood trimming, doors, and furniture when required.
  • Repair walls and perform patchwork and painting as needed.
  • Take maintenance calls professionally and provide timely customer service.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance and identify issues efficiently.
  • Carry out periodic projects and inspections; support other departments.

SUMMARY: A Maintenance Technician is part of the Maintenance Department for Wilderness at the Smokies. The job of a Maintenance Technician is to maintain all facilities for all Wilderness at the Smokies properties in a professional matter. Wilderness at the Smokies properties include but are not limited to River Lodge, Stone Hill Lodge, Villas, Offsite Laundry, Employee Housing and Soaky Mountain Waterpark.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Assess and repair all Wilderness facilities which include but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, painting and remodeling
  • Refinish wood trimming, doors and/or furniture as needed
  • Repair walls, wallpaper and/or preform patchwork and painting as needed
  • Take maintenance calls in a professional manner as well as delivering satisfactory customer service in a timely manner
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and pinpoint and/or isolate the issue in the most efficient way possible
  • Carry out daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual projects and/or inspections
  • Be a support team member for all departments
  • Maintain compliance with all TOSHA and company safety standards by wearing required PPE and proactively securing the work area to prevent injury to self and others during equipment operation and repair.
  • All other duties assigned by manager

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Level 3

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY: Level 2

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to be covered by and maintain company insurance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to act independently with little supervision
  • Requires a good understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of resort amenities, room designs, and general knowledge
  • Good attendance and punctual
  • Exhibits professionalism
  • Exhibits good grooming habits
  • Wears the proper uniform
  • Works efficiently
  • Follows all resort and office policies and standard operating procedures
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner with a positive attitude
