Job summary

Wilderness at the Smokies in Sevierville, TN, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform basic maintenance for the waterparks, keeping components running and a safe environment for guests and staff.

You will work across all park areas—electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and painting—inspecting rides, testing water systems, and following OSHA/EPA protocols; a valid TN driver license and aquatic certifications are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and communicate with customers or employees
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret measurements

Responsibilities

  • Inspect each ride and attraction before opening
  • Water test pool systems and record results, monitor temperatures and filtration
  • Assist with preventative maintenance across park areas
  • Paint and touch up as directed
  • Operate and maintain safety protocols for vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas and logs for completed work
  • Follow OSHA and EPA protocols and wear proper PPE
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with Aquatic Operations management and staff

SUMMARY: Maintenance Technician will perform basic maintenance for the Waterparks. The Maintenance Technician will work to keep all waterpark components running and ensure a safe environment for all guests & employees. The Maintenance Tech will work in all areas of the park and all disciplines of maintenance to the best of their ability; disciplines include but are not limited to electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.



  • Inspecting each ride and attractions before opening

  • Water test each pool system and record results; check and record slide pressures, pool water temperatures, and water filtration systems.

  • Interacting with co-workers and guests to meet their needs in a polite, courteous and cooperative manner.

  • Assisting with the preventative maintenance work in all areas of the park, as directed.

  • Painting/touching up areas, as directed.

  • Removing leafs/snow and salting areas, as directed.

  • Documenting all completed work in the work logs.

  • Checking and documenting chlorine levels in pools, slides, and pool areas, as directed.

  • Inspecting pools, slides, and pool areas, as directed.

  • Safe operation of company vehicles, golf carts, etc.

  • This position requires regular and predictable attendance.

  • Responsible for adding dry chemicals to pool systems, as needed, to maintain water balance.

  • Backwash filter systems as needed; clean strainer baskets and keep work area clean and safe.

  • Carry out rust prevention practices including, but not limited to: painting, general maintenance, mechanics, pneumatics, electrical and plumbing.

  • Ability to perform common preventive maintenance.

  • Repairs tubes, rafts, flow boards and body boards.

  • Follow protocols set by OSHA, EPA, and Wilderness Development Corporation.

  • Wear proper personal protective equipment while working with or around chemicals.

  • Responsible for cleaning acid and chlorine feed lines and injectors, as needed.

  • Responds to radio calls regarding problems in the water parks within a reasonable amount of time – ability to prioritize according to urgency, when necessary.

  • Keep an open line of communication between aquatic maintenance and the Aquatic Operations Management/Supervisory staff.

  • All other duties as assigned by management.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Level 3


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Level 3


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment

  • Ability to be covered by and maintain company insurance

  • Aquatic Facility Operator Certification

  • Certified Pool Operator Certification
