Job summary

The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters in Roseville, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide basic preventative and corrective maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks on site.

This role offers $20.14 to $26.91 per hour for a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, with duties including completing work orders, monitoring boiler logs, assisting with events, and responding to after-hours calls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year maintenance experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
• Special Boiler license or ability to obtain within 120 days; forklift cert to be obtained if needed.
• Pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license.
• DOT Medical Examiners Certificate within 90 days and meet MVR requirements.
• Good communication and PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and equipment.
• Complete work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance timely.
• Monitor, inspect, test, and maintain boiler logs.
• Assist with events and projects (setup, transport, teardown).
• Assist with winter grounds upkeep.
• Respond to after-hours emergency building calls as needed.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing basic preventative and corrective maintenance for The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) in Roseville, MN. The Maintenance Technician performs basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry maintenance.

Wage: $20.14 to $26.91 per hour, 40 hours a week from Monday to Friday

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

All work performed within scope of training and regulations.

• Perform and schedule routine maintenance (e.g., HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry, painting, power equipment). (35%)
• Complete assigned work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance in a timely manner. (30%)
• Monitor, inspect, test, and maintain logs for the boiler. (20%)
• Assist with special events and projects (e.g., setup, equipment transportation, teardown). (5%)
• Assist with winter grounds upkeep. (5%)
• Respond to after-hours emergency building calls from the monitoring company as needed. (5%).

Education and Experience

• High school diploma/GED.
• One or more years of maintenance experience (e.g., carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Must possess a Special Boiler license or be able to obtain within 120 days of employment. DHQ will support obtaining license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a forklift certification. DHQ will provide certification as needed.
• Pass background checks.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, possess or be able to obtain within 90 days a DOT Medical Examiners Certificate, and meet MVR requirements.
• Working knowledge and safe handling of equipment, chemicals, and materials regularly used in basic maintenance.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to use PC and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

• Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and climbing.
• Regularly lift 40 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
• Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
• Must be able to sit and stand for reasonable periods of time.
• Must be able to communicate clearly in English and work in person or on the phone.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Travel Requirements

Regular driving in the metro using agency vehicle for supplies, mail, etc.
