POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Worker performs standard and unskilled tasks related to maintenance and repair of facility grounds and structures.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.
2. Maintains building and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
3. Performs basic repairs as determined by the Maintenance Director.
4. Takes care of tools and equipment.
5. Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and extinguishers; changes filters on HVAC equipment; carries, lifts, and stocks supplies.
6. Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.
7. Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in absence of the supervisor.
8. Ensures residents and families receive high-quality, compassionate service.
9. Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATIONAL / VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent; basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

JOB SKILLS:

• Good organizational skills.
• Physically agile and in good health.
• Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and the public.
• Provide annual verification of negative TB skin test.

RELATED DUTIES:

• Interact with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
• Carry out additional tasks as needed, including hands-on interventions.
