Job summary

Erickson Senior Living's Fox Run Village in Novi, Michigan, is hiring a Maintenance Tech I to upkeep residential apartments and campus spaces. You will respond to work orders quickly, perform routine and emergency repairs, and help ensure residents have a safe, comfortable home.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in residential apartments, commercial buildings or construction-related industries.
• Working knowledge of residential building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, flooring and appliances.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Home Health environment experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to residents' maintenance work orders.
• Support General Services' team's visibility and problem-solving for resident experience.
• Perform routine and emergency repairs in apartments and public areas (electrical, plumbing, lighting).
• Carry out HVAC preventive maintenance and respond to urgent calls.
• Paint walls in occupied and vacated apartments as needed.
• Maintain paint/wallcoverings in high-traffic common areas.
• Repair drywall as required.
• Prepare written requests for materials and report completion of work orders.
• Create and close work orders in the system.

How you will make an impact

• Provide prompt responses to resident's maintenance work orders
• Contribute to the General Services' team visibility and reputation for problem solving and enhancing the resident living experience
• Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and community public areas, including electrical malfunctions, repair/replace plumbing and lighting fixtures, and other maintenance needs that arise
• Perform necessary maintenance of HVAC equipment, including scheduled preventive maintenance and responding to emergency calls
• Perform residential painting/wallcovering in occupied and vacated apartments
• Maintain existing paint/wallcoverings in high traffic common areas
• Perform drywall repairs
• Prepare written communications as required to request painting/wallcovering materials and supplies and to report on the completion of each work order
• Create and close work orders on work order system

What you will need

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment complex, commercial building setting, or construction-related industry
• Must possess a working knowledge of residential building maintenance to include, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, flooring and appliances
• Must have working knowledge of HVAC
• Experience in Home Health environment preferred
• Must be able to effectively communicate with residents and staff
• Be able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
