Job summary

Petoskey Plastics in Morristown, TN is seeking a maintenance technician with a two-year technical degree and at least five years of industrial maintenance experience to maintain and repair manufacturing equipment.

This role involves preventive and reactive maintenance, PLC programming and troubleshooting, wiring, drive systems, and ensuring safety and accuracy of drawings and manuals. The company offers a family-oriented culture and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain manufacturing equipment, performing preventive and reactive maintenance.
  • Repair equipment according to priorities and PLC work.
  • Document activities in work orders and close them.
  • Provide operator equipment training when needed.
  • Ensure drawings, programs, and manuals are accurate and available.
  • Communicate safety and operation updates to associates.
  • Identify improvement areas and plan projects with management.
  • Read ladder logic, interpret PLC signals, and troubleshoot drive components.
  • Connect to PLCs, download/upload programs, and modify as needed.
  • Set up analog or digital drives and VFDs for basic operation.
  • Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and troubleshoot leaks.
  • Demonstrate workmanship and set quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment, performing preventive and reactive maintenance
  • Perform equipment repairs based on management priorities and PLC work
  • Document all activities in the work order module and close work orders when completed
  • Provide operator equipment training when needed
  • Ensure drawings, programs, and manuals are accurate, available, and complete
  • Communicate safety and operation updates to all associates
  • Identify improvement areas and plan improvement projects with management and the safety committee
  • Calculate force, change gear/drive ratios, and perform ampacity calculations for wire sizing
  • Read ladder logic symbols, basic power and control logic flow, and troubleshoot PLC loops
  • Use schematics to troubleshoot, repair, modify, and upgrade circuits
  • Adjust PID loops and understand effects of proportional, integral, derivative parameters
  • Interpret physical IO signals and interpret digital, analog, and temperature (thermocouple) inputs
  • Connect to PLCs, download and upload programs, and make program modifications
  • Understand drive/motor operation, mechanical starters, three-phase motor operation, and overload protection
  • Set up new analog or digital DC drives and AC VFDs for basic operation
  • Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and troubleshoot leaks or component failures
  • Demonstrate superior workmanship and set quality standards for associates
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Education: Two-year technical degree
  • Experience: Minimum five years in industrial equipment maintenance in manufacturing
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Experience with Epicor or similar maintenance software databases
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • PLC programming and troubleshooting
    • AC and DC drive troubleshooting to board level
    • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, blueprint reading, hydraulic, pneumatics, arc welding, gas welding, and cutting
    • Self-directed with good time-management skills
    • Forklift certification
Essential Functions

  • Ascend/descend stairways and platforms with heights up to 50+ feet
  • Stand for up to 12 hours
  • Walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and lift/carry up to 30 pounds (higher weights require two-person lift)
