Job summary

Weil-McLain in Michigan City, IN is seeking a maintenance technician to install, maintain and repair plant machinery, weld, lay out pipelines and support foundry operations.

Requirements include a Journeyman card or equivalent, a high school diploma or GED, ability to read and write well, and willingness to work in a non-climate controlled foundry; lifting up to 75 pounds. Prior foundry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair a variety of machinery and related components and accessories.
  • Perform required electric arc and acetylene welding operations.
  • Test, inspect, lay out, maintain, and replace or install all types of pipe lines, tubing, fittings & fixtures in plant maintenance & construction.
  • Occasionally lay out and direct work of helpers, mentor and assist lower scale maintenance techs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Hourly Pay Rate

$28.73-32.37 per hour. Plus $0.40 differential per hour worked for 3rd shift or $0.35 differential per hour worked on 2nd shift.

Tools and Equipment

Variety of power and hand tools, maintenance and measuring devices for machinery; electric arc welding equipment, acetylene burning & welding equipment; various types of flux, rod, electrodes, hand tools, clamps, forklift, etc.

Materials

Various woods, concrete, grout, fluids and oils used to install and maintain equipment; various types of structural steel, iron and alloy metals; various types and sizes of pipes, fittings, fixtures and tubing, seals and packing for installing materials and hardware.

Minimum Requirements
  • Journeymen Card or equivalent amount of experience/education.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in reading and writing.
  • Willingness to work in non-climate controlled, foundry environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Previous foundry experience a plus.
