Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic Level B is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in an iron foundry environment. The role ensures equipment reliability and minimal downtime in support of production operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair foundry equipment including conveyors, hydraulic systems, furnaces, and mechanical handling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, switches, and control panels up to 480V.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks such as repairing leaks, replacing valves, and maintaining water lines and air systems.
  • Diagnose issues with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; replace pumps, hoses, seals, and valves as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and keep accurate maintenance records.
  • Work with minimal supervision to prioritize and complete daily tasks.
  • Assist in equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE usage.
  • Collaborate with Level A mechanics, electricians, and engineering staff as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a foundry or heavy manufacturing setting.
  • Solid working knowledge of hydraulic systems, conveyors, basic electrical repair, and plumbing.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with welding and fabrication is a plus.
  • Able to lift 75 lbs. and work in high-temperature and physically demanding environments.
  • Must be available to work overtime, and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including high heat and around heavy equipment.
  • Manual dexterity required to handle tools and machine components.
  • Visual acuity to inspect parts and detect mechanical issues.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards, hearing protection, and fire‑resistant clothing.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a foundry environment with exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, dust, noise, and heavy machinery and airborne particulates.
  • May work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime based on production needs.
Shift & Pay

Wage Range $27.97-$37.00 per hour (depending on experience knowledge)
