Job summary

Housing Assistance in Hyannis seeks a dedicated general maintenance worker to execute various tasks across residential and office locations. This role involves plumbing, electrical work, wall repairs, and furniture assembly among other duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor plumbing repairs and electrical work.

  • Assist with general construction tasks as needed.

Job description

Summary/Objective

Perform general maintenance tasks at HAC’s units across the Capeas well as some maintenance at our office locations as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Minor plumbing repairs (clogs, repair leaks)
  • Minor electrical (replacing an outlet or switch)
  • Changing locks
  • Wall patching/repair and painting
  • Light custodial work (i.e. cleaning walls to prep for painting, organizing/cleaning maintenance shop)
  • Assembly of furniture at shelter facilities
Additional Duties
  • General construction tasks as needed
  • Light snow shoveling
Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently and independently
  • Heavy lifting required (50 lbs+)
  • General understanding of electric, plumbing & construction
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have own vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) and tools
  • Must be comfortable on a ladder
  • Comfort level with working in a diverse group of facilities and ability to treat others with respect at all times
  • Comfort level with computers (email and work order system)
  • Ability to be available night and weekends for on-call schedule and emergencies
Preferred Qualifications, Education, and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in general maintenance
  • Home improvement license
  • Construction license/certificate
  • Strongly prefer LICENSED plumber or electrician, Construction Supervisor license helpful

Work Environment
  • The functions of this role are conducted at residential units, shelter facilities, scatter-site shelter units and office locations.
Hours of Work
  • This role is paid on an hourly basis.
  • The hours of work for this position are Monday thru Friday, with night and weekend on-call schedule and emergencies.
