Job summary

Astra Air & Repair, a Houston-based residential HVAC and maintenance company, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, diagnose, repair, and service HVAC systems across occupied properties. This hands-on role requires independence, clear communication, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

You will document work, coordinate with property managers and team members, and uphold safety standards while delivering professional service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
• 3+ years of residential maintenance and/or HVAC experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance.
• EPA Section 608 certification when performing work requiring certification.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Astra's driving eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential HVAC diagnostics, preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations.
• Troubleshoot service issues and identify appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
• Complete assigned work orders accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Astra's service and quality standards.
• Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, diagnostics, repairs, installations, and materials used.
• Coordinate with property managers, maintenance coordinators, leadership, vendors, and other team members.
• Provide professional and respectful service while working in occupied homes.

About the RoleThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation services across residential properties, with a primary focus on HVAC systems while also supporting general property maintenance needs within the technician's training, experience, and qualifications.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who can work independently, diagnose problems effectively, provide high-quality workmanship, and deliver a professional customer experience. Technicians are also responsible for accurately documenting their work and communicating service needs, recommendations, and job status to the appropriate team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential HVAC diagnostics, preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations
• Troubleshoot service issues and identify appropriate repair or replacement solutions
• Perform general residential maintenance and repairs within your demonstrated skills, training, and authorization
• Complete assigned work orders accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Astra's service and quality standards
• Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, diagnostics, repairs, installations, and materials used
• Upload required photos, service notes, and work-order documentation
• Communicate job status, delays, additional repair needs, and recommended next steps
• Coordinate with property managers, maintenance coordinators, leadership, vendors, and other team members
• Provide professional and respectful service while working in occupied homes
• Properly use, maintain, secure, and account for Company-issued vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and supplies
• Follow Company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable OSHA and EPA requirements
• Participate in an on-call rotation and assist with evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
• 3+ years of relevant residential maintenance and/or HVAC experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
• Appropriate HVAC registration, certification, or license required by applicable law for assigned work
• Appropriate EPA Section 608 certification when performing work requiring certification
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Astra's driving eligibility requirements
• Strong time-management, organizational, problem-solving, and customer-service skills
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to use mobile technology and work-order management systems
• Ability to communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, management, vendors, and contractors
• Experience with Property Meld, HouseCall Pro, AppFolio, Connecteam, or similar systems preferred
