Job summary

SteelTech in Houston is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery, electrical systems, PLCs, pumps, and conveyors. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical failures and coordinate with production to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • Advanced technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in maintenance roles in the steel, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Experience in commercial wire, mesh, or related industries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, electrical systems, PLCs, variable frequency drives, motors, pumps, and other critical equipment to ensure operational continuity.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to identify potential failures and opportunities for improvement before they affect production.
  • Diagnosticate and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in components such as transmission systems, bearings, conveyors, cranes, and forklifts.
  • Coordinate maintenance interventions with the production team, ensuring safe and efficient operations and providing technical support when required.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and tools and document maintenance activities to maintain accurate records; participate in continuous improvement and installation of new equipment.

Education

Advanced Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field

Job description

We are seeking a professional responsible for performing preventive and corrective industrial maintenance on plant machinery and equipment. Their objective will be to ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of production systems, minimizing downtime and actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, electrical systems, PLCs, variable frequency drives, motors, pumps, and other critical equipment to ensure operational continuity.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to identify potential failures, irregularities, and opportunities for improvement before they affect production.
  • Diagnosticate and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in components such as transmission systems, bearings, conveyor belts, cranes, and forklifts.
  • Coordinate maintenance interventions with the production team, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and provide technical support when required.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts and tools, as well as document maintenance activities performed to maintain accurate records. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Contract Type: Full-time

Salary: $16/hour + Production Bonuses

Requirements:

  • Advanced Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, and/or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in maintenance roles in the steel, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Experience in commercial wire, mesh, or related industries.
