Maintenance Technician

Pay: $20.00–$21.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time | 8-Hour Shift | On-Call Rotation as Needed

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep of residential apartments, healthcare buildings, and public areas throughout the Freedom Village Holland campus. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, and emergency response services to ensure a safe, attractive, and well-maintained environment for residents, visitors, and team members. The Maintenance Technician serves as a member of the Maintenance team and plays an important role in maintaining the physical condition of all buildings on campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, plumbing fixtures, pipes, fittings, doors, locks, lighting, and other building components.
  • Respond to emergency calls involving system or equipment failures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs of residential HVAC equipment.
  • Perform equipment resets and simple HVAC repairs when appropriate.
Work Order Management
  • Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Document repairs completed and record all required equipment information.
Campus Operations
  • Assist with campus projects, repairs, and seasonal duties, including snow removal.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of maintenance materials and supplies.
  • Participate in scheduled and on-call overtime as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors to support efficient community operations.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and vendors.
  • Promote a safe and professional environment throughout the community.
  • Support team members and collaborate on maintenance projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of residential building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, flooring, appliances, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and prioritize responsibilities independently.
  • Strong integrity, flexibility, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment community, commercial building, construction environment, or similar setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Use a hand truck or request assistance for loads greater than 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders.
  • Move furniture and maintenance equipment as needed.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing campus maintenance duties.
